You may register for programs that take place at Mount Pleasant and Cedar Grove in person at the Philadelphia Museum of Art's Visitor Services desks. Or to register by phone, call (215) 235-SHOW (7469). A nonrefundable service charge for each space reserved is added to all phone orders (Members $2.50, Nonmembers $3.00). There is no service charge for reservations made in the Museum.1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Come witness the ongoing examination and restoration of the elaborate woodwork in the second-story drawing room at Mount Pleasant. Conservator Christopher Storb will talk about the project to recreate the missing carving of the chimneypiece and will demonstrate parts of the conservation process. He will be able to answer questions and offer expertise on colonial craftsmanship.

Ticket includes admission to Cedar Grove
Explore what an early American Quaker wedding may have looked like. Special tours feature a look at reproductions of the actual wedding dress and the reception menu from Lydia and James Thompson’s 1809 celebration that was surprisingly stylish for the traditionally plain Society of Friends (Quakers). Light refreshments will be served.

Wondrous to Behold: Fairmount Waterworks

Join Park House Guides on a tour of the Fairmount Water Works, an engineering marvel of its time, which was described by Edgar Allan Poe as "wondrous to behold." -
Schuylkill Stroll

Take a scenic stroll along Philadelphia's beautiful Boathouse Row, with a look at sculpture and architecture in close proximity to the Museum. -
New! Sculpture Garden and Sculpted Views
Thursdays and Sundays 1:00-2:00
Take a stroll around the Museum and into the new Sculpture Garden to explore some of the outdoor artwork and landscape views. The one acre site hosts two gallery areas, which currently contain the stone sculptures of Isamu Noguchi. The plantings along the lawns and terraces contain trees, shrubs, and perennials that support local wildlife and bloom at various seasons. The guide for this tour will highlight many of these features and will lead participants in a discussion of the artworks. -
Perelman Building Architectural Tour
Sundays only at 1:00
Resplendent with multicolored and gilded ornaments and animated with sculptures carved in limestone and cast in terracotta and metal, the Ruth and Raymond G. Perelman Building is the most richly embellished example of Art Deco architecture to be erected in Philadelphia in the 1920s.

Cedar Grove
Cedar Grove was the family home for five generations of the Coates, Paschall, and Morris families of Philadelphia. Colonial Life at Cedar Grove is an interactive program for elementary students, grades 3–6. Students experience both work and leisure activities of the eighteenth century as they tour the house and garden. Thursdays, 10:00–11:20 a.m. -
Mount Pleasant
Middle and high school students can participate in a new program, Discover Classical Architecture at Mount Pleasant, an eighteenth-century mansion in Fairmount Park. In this currently unfurnished home, students review the basic classical orders, observe craftsmen's tools, and learn about creating and designing a grand country home. Each student creates his or her own design for the "missing" mantel piece in the Upstairs Parlor.
