Associates and Chairman’s Council members enjoy an exciting travel program that invites them to explore the world’s treasures in the company of internationally recognized curators and scholars. Trips range from one-day excursions to take exclusive tours of special exhibitions and private collections to diverse national and international curator-led tours with rich itineraries.

In addition to these tours, special travel opportunities are also available exclusively for Chairman's Council members.

West Collection (Oaks, Pennsylvania)

Associates and Chairman’s Council members are invited to visit the renowned West Collection at SEI Corporation in Oaks, Pennsylvania. The collection features premier examples of contemporary painting, photography, and installation art.

October 15–19, 2008
During a five-day adventure, Associates and Chairman’s Council members explore the Windy City’s extraordinary art and architecture. Included are trips to area museums, historic buildings, private collections, and artists’ studios.

New York, New York
November 6, 2008
Associates and Chairman’s Council members visit The Museum of Modern Art to explore Van Gogh and the Colors of the Night and Joan Miró: Painting 1927–1937, which reveals underappreciated aspects of an artist long regarded as Surrealism’s greatest and most lyrical painter-poet. The afternoon is spent at the American Folk Art Museum viewing The Seduction of Light: Ammi Phillips/Mark Rothko Compositions in Pink, Green, and Red and Martin Ramirez: The Last Works.

Venice, Padua, and Trieste (Italy)
September 2009
Associates and Chairman’s Council members are invited to explore a trio of Italian cities! First, the group travels to Venice for the Biennale 2009, the colorful Regatta in the Grand Canal, visits to Palladian Villas, and more. Then it’s off to Padua and Trieste to enjoy museums, villas, and archeological sites, spanning the centuries from the Roman Empire to Italy’s vibrant contemporary art scene.

Venice Biennale (Italy)
June 2009
Chairman’s Council members are invited to attend the opening of the Biennale 2009 and celebrate as our Museum spotlights the achievements of great American artist Bruce Nauman. The Museum is deeply honored to have been selected to mount the exhibition for the U.S. Pavilion. Museum Curators Carlos Basualdo and Michael Taylor will serve as Biennale Commissioners.

Spain
Fall 2009
Chairman’s Council members follow in the footsteps of Carl Strehlke, Adjunct Curator of the John G. Johnson Collection, as he researches his 2010 exhibition, 15th Century Art in the Kingdom of Aragon. The tour includes the cities of Valencia, Zaragoza, and Barcelona and the island of Majorca with a focus on the treasures of gothic and Renaissance Spain.
